You spin me right round baby right round....

It is very rare for me to make a layout that does not involve the kids, but Angel and I have very few pictures together :( Once I get a new camera, I vow to take more pictures of us all together.

Speaking of new camera issues, tried to take advantage of the natural light again, but it just doesn't do justice to the color of the layout! This background page is from The Mod Retro stack by DCWV, I love this paper stack! It is a black record image, the entire page is glossy and shiny, and to keep up with the record theme, I used vinyl thickers. Just added a few brads and some stitching for embellishment and voila! Super simple, cute page.

I am so disappointed by how fast it seems time is going by. Yet again, a new week already. I do work tomorrow, not sure if we will do anything after, but I hope everyone has a fun and safe memorial day! Ciao!

Hooray for weekends!

I'm gonna be stuffed like a thanksgiving turkey today. Angel's mom and grandma both had birthday's this week, so we are celebrating today. We've already had breakfast, then we are going out to lunch at 3pm. I was able to whip up a couple of quick cards before we got ready. I took advantage of the natural light coming in from the bathroom, haha. I think it came out pretty well. I am taking Kristina Werner's advice to not shoot photos of your projects with the flash on!

I've also been practicing adding stitching to my cards and scrapbook pages. It sure is frustrating to get straight lines, still need some practice! I figured I could just whip out the machine and create some magical straight stitching, I sure was wrong! So for the first card I left it as messy zigzag stitching on the top. Eventually I will create straight lines, haha.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Reader's Choice Color Inspiration 1

Here is my submission for Kristina Werner's first reader's choice challenge! I really put a lot of time into this one and I love the way it came out. I am still undecided if I used too many butterflies! I got the idea for "adore" definition from a layout Tiffany did for her son. Angel brought home the camera he uses for work and I was able to barely squeeze in my submission last minute! Thanks for looking!

RIP Casio

So my very old Casio QV-R40 has finally died on me. :( I am super sad. Now I have no camera. Blah. I made a super cute layout for Kristina Werner's current Design Challenge, and I can't even take a picture. Now I must save for a new camera. I have my eye on a couple of Canon Powershots, but am still undecided which one might be better for the prices they have available.

On to another note, I told myself I would not spend any more money on crafting magazines or books, but I broke down when I saw Amazon had 2 books for good reasonable prices. I ordered the Getting Creative with Type by Bill Tippets and of course I had to finally purchase Elizabeth Kartchner's 52 More Scrapbooking Challenges. I ordered next day shipping and the tracking said it was already here in my city, so where the heck are you FedEx man?!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far. Today is my first day off after working a straight 9 days, and I have to tell you, so far its been pretty lazy. I need to go into court before 4:30 to take care of a traffic ticket, then I am just gonna veg around. Ha. Have a good one!

Tuesday, Tuesday..

I have been fighting today with my allergies and man oh man they are kicking my butt.

I am beyond amazed at how advanced scrapbooking, cardmaking, and paper crafting in general has become. There are sooooooooo many talented people out there! I just picked up the new Scrapbooking Tips and Tricks special issue from Creating Keepsakes and I cannot wait to try out some of the techniques that are featured in there!

Au revoir until then, off to work :(

Monday, Monday...

Hi! Hope everyone had a great weekend and relaxing mother's day! I spend a lot of time in my craft room these past few days. I made these two cards for Angel's mom and grandma. I got the original layout idea from the latest "Paper Creations" magazine. The designer is Michelle Woerner and she has the "Thinking of You" card on page 55 and the "Family Love" card on page 59. You can find some of her work here. I love the way these ones came out, the color in person is just beautiful.

I made 2 similar cards like the blue one above, but one was pink/maroon and I gave that one to my mom. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to snap a picture of it :( I have school finals this week, so won't be making anything for a few days, but I am definitely looking forward to making more cards and scrapbooking once school is out!

Enjoy your week everyone, goodnight!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's day to my Mom and my 4 beautiful sisters, as well as all my aunts and cousins and friends and everyone else who is a mom! HaHa! Saturday went by sooooo fast! Spent the morning with Angel and the girls looking for the little things we still needed to finish all our mother's day crafts and such. Then spent the afternoon making my mom two birthday cards and a yummy birthday cake for her birthday! I wish I had taken more pictures of the cards to see which ones came out better, but I was in a hurry and only took one photo of each, so the color from the camera is not so great! I love the way the cards came out though. The cake was Apple Butter Pecan with almonds, it was gooooooood.

After we came home we helped the girls finish up their mother's day project. They both made cards and also a "flower pot" with cutouts of their hands. We let them each decorate the little hands and their flowerpots and this is how they came out. They are really cute!

Anywho still need to tidy up a bit so I can finish making the mother's day cards now. I hope everyone has a great mother's day and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

School's Cool!

I finally got some "me time" today in my craft room! I have been so busy with work and school lately, by the time I am home I just want to relax and sleep! It felt good to finally make something again and make a big ol' mess!

I started this page last week and finally finished! This is my oldest daughter's first school photo. I had her write the journaling for me! I used the Grade School paper pack from DCWV along with various rub-on's and embellishments. Stamp set is from TPC studios.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. The school sent Desiree home with a list of things they can do everyday this week to appreciate their teachers. Today was "bring an apple" day and tomorrow is "send a thank you note/card". I was super excited about this one! Made this card this morning after school and before work. I love how it came out considering I did not have a lot of time to work with. I also used the Grade School paper pack with this card, along with some ribbon and brads, stamp set is from Hero Arts.

Hopefully I will be back soon with more stuff to share. I need to make tons of mother's day cards for my family and the girls at work, and I need to make a birthday card for my mom for Saturday. I will post results later! Everyone enjoy the rest of your week!
