Good evening fellow crafters! How have you all been? It has been a while since I have posted, and I love posting after I've created something that I am really excited and happy about! Today is Papertrey Ink's 100th Make it Monday video! How awesome is that! I've watched all the videos but I certainly wish I had participated in more of the challenges!
This week the challenge is about packaging for cards with over-sized embellishments, you know, the kind that won't fit into a standard envelope. I cannot wait to see what everyone comes up with. The size of my card is usually the first thing I consider when making a card, and I try to steer clear of a lot of embellishments because I know they won't fit into the envelope. I would have never thought to create a package instead!
I had a blast making this set. I am in love with this card and the package I created with it. I cannot wait to give this card away with the packaging! I found this card via Pinterest and I just fell in love with the design. I love love love the Kraft and white cardstock together, its beautiful. I just knew I wanted to create a Valentine's Day card with this same card design!
I started with a standard brown paper bag and Valentine's paper from the Paper Studios' All Seasons II pack. I cut off about 1½" on the top of the bag and punched a border. I made the accordion fold flower with the same paper and embellished that with some punched accents, embossed dots, the Papertrey Ink banner die, and some rhinestones. I added a Happy Valentines Day sentiment from Hero Arts on the same banner die cut to finish off the packaging.
The card is standard A2 size, made with a white card base and Kraft cardstock. I used Papertrey Ink's Heart-2-Heart #3 stamp set(designed by Melissa Bickford. The Heart-2-Heart stamp series is adorable!) for the stamped hearts. I used dimensionals to pop them up onto the card. I added some white dash lines along the edges and circles, just like Nikki did with her card. I added more of the patterned paper, and again used the PTI banner die to add the sentiment. The "I love you" is a $1 stamp from Michaels that I found last year. I added more rhinestones and then completed the inside of the card!
I think my favorite part of this set is how well the red, Kraft, and white all go together. I am going to have to make a couple more sets because I just love this one, I don't know if I want to give it away! I am working on many more Valentine's Day projects, I will share some more soon! Check out some of my Valentine's products in my Etsy shop!
Thanks for stopping by, have a great week!
